I had a wonderful five day retreat away from the city. We didn’t go far, but it was good for Tim & I to take some time off work, relax, enjoy the weather, and it was good for Sophie to get out of the city. She spent most days chasing birds, playing fetch, and sunning herself. She will probably sleep well all week! I finally purchased a new camera. After months of going back and forth as to what I was going to buy I opted for the Nikon D40x. I still love my old Canon Powershot. It takes phenomenal photos for a point & shoot camera, but I am really pleased with the features of my new camera. I went a little snap happy with the camera and basically toured the island. Port Jefferson, West Hampton, Southampton, and the beach were all featured in my numerous photo shoots. I hope to make it all the way out to Montauk before the summer ends for some another photo session, but I have to brace myself for the traffic first. Anyway, here are a few of my favorite photos from this weekend:
girl jumping on the beach, a pink lily, sunset, & sophie lounging
The photos make me smile every time I look at them. I need that, because I am nursing a sunburn I acquired while hanging out on the beach yesterday despite my religious application of SPF 30. It is painful, but I am hoping that drinking a ton of water & reapplying aloe vera every 20 seconds will help speed the healing process. Keep your fingers crossed!
