my grandfather always recommended that we write “stolen from [insert first & last name here]” on anything worth stealing. for instance, if i wrote “stolen from melanie” on my calculator and someone by the name of “ben”did in fact steal it, anyone who witnessed ben using this particular calculator would know that he stole it from melanie and this could be very embarrassing for him. i always found this to be funny way to mark your belongings. i stopped writing my name on my pens & pencils in grade school, (and i’m sure my grandfather would argue that they are much more likely to be stolen that way), but identifying and labeling luggage is still important. now, i am not suggesting that you label your manolos “stolen from so & so”, but I think it would be wise that you notify everyone that there is nothing worth stealing in your luggage with a very funny luggage tag by Pamela Barsky:

the tags come in a set of six varied messages and in bright colors for easy identification. Fill in your contact info and attach them to your LV luggage. Now all you have to worry about is weaving your way through that dreadful security and ordering your favorite cocktail as you snuggle into your first class seat! happy travels!

$10 for a set of six, available @ See Jane Work
