Unfortunately we will all have to go without frozen hot chocolate & other treats today, Serendipity 3, the famous restaurant & favorite of tourists, was closed by the NY Health Department for reasons no one is discussing.  🙁 🙁  Of course once I heard the news I wanted a frozen hot chocolate!  Of course I can always turn to making it at home.

I patronized Serendipity 3 to see what the hoopla was all about first hand. I was most definitely disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and way overpriced, but I was hopeful the dessert would save the day. We ordered one sundae and one “famous” frozen hot chocolate. The sundae was decent, but we sent the frozen hot chocolate back!! It was noting more than a chocolately runny mess in a cup. I am glad they closed! They might have been good at one time, but they have been sitting on their laurels for too long and maybe this will be the wake up call they need!

I ate their yesterday. by the time I got home tv had it that they had closed. To bad they had not closed before I ate there.
Had a cheeseburger that was horrible, french fries that were cold. A waiter that had me wait almost 20 min. Then when he delv the food, never asked me if I wanted anything beside the water I had on the table and Finally, I just him to fill it up. Paid the check $14 and will never go back. AND THEY WERE NOT BUSY!!! TERRY

BREAKING: Serendipity Shutdown Confirmed; ‘100 Live Cockroaches’ Found

The Department of Health has confirmed that following an inspection on 11/14, Serendipity 3 was shut down for myriad violations. Their statement to us, just in: “The Health Department closed Serendipity on 11/14/07 following its second consecutive failed inspection in a month. Both inspections revealed rodent and fly infestation and conditions conducive to pest infestation, including stagnant water in the basement. In last night’s inspection, the inspector observed a live mouse, mouse droppings in multiple areas of the restaurant, fruit flies, house flies, and over 100 live cockroaches.” Recoil.
Meanwhile, the restaurant is blaming the incident on a ‘water leak in the kitchen.’ This via the inbox: “Had a reservation there for tonight for my birthday so I called. They’re temporarily shut down due to a water leak in the kitchen and hope to reopen sometime next week.”

It was just released that the reason Serendipity 3 closed is due to 2 failed inspections in one month. Inspectors found live mice, mice droppings, flies, and more than 100 live cockroaches.
