The Challenge: To design a couture evening gown. The designers were given 30 minutes to sketch using the Paris views as inspiration for their designs, $375, and 2 days to complete their designs.
Catherine Malandrino returned as the Paris host & judge and hosts a little sorriee for the designers to showcase their designs with Paris as the backdrop. After Catherine tallied her own scores, the designers were sent back to New York, asked to re fit them to their models and have another NY runway show where Richard Tyler filled in as the guest judge.
Jeff once again chose yellow…this time yellow plaid. a super high slit, and flowing fabric!! however, the model rocked this look…the structured bustline made the whole bottom make sense.
Vincent is FINALLY OUT:
there are no questions here. the hem seems to be curling up, the plunging neckline simply doesn’t fit her, and is pulling, the sleeves & fabric are just ugly.
kayne can make clothing, but sometimes his vision is a little out of whack. his skirt is a bit fugly, he could have taken the corset a different route and been fine. A challenge like this he should have shined, but he got the best of himself.
Laura’s design is simple and a bit cruela deville, but i can’t help but like the ruffled neckline.
Michael came close to embarrassing himself for the first time on this challenge. I want to like this dress. I love the color, and I like the IDEA of this dress, but it doesn’t look right to me. To me it looks like she just got out of the pool and the weight of the water is dragging her down.
I absolutely love Uli’s design. I was even a bit surprised at the subtle glamour this gown exudes given her love of prints. I thought there might be a shot she could win.
If I had to pick the top three for the season right now: Michael, Uli, & Jeffrey with Michael winning the whole thing. What do you think?
Project Runway airs on Bravo on Wednesdays 10/9c
