I don’t exactly have a great relationship with the sun. I am a walking recessive gene…blue eyes, the palest skin, and the light baby fine blonde hair. The moment sun hits my skin it turns red. I have the same hair and skin as I did in the 1st grade. I simply didn’t grow up. As a child, everyone kept telling me my hair would change color around the age of 14 (not that I would know for certain but I think that is when my mom’s hair began to darken). While I loved my blonde hair, I wasn’t fond of the non-existent texture, and I was always jealous of my olive skinned friends. I secretly hoped that I would be able to tan like my younger brother & sister do. They are both blondes (although their hair did darken a bit once we got older & they both have hazel eyes) somehow they do not burn the way I do. Every summer I am as pale as a ghost while they are basking in the sun. My sister would have her lifeguard tan, my brother would have a farmers tan, and I would more than likely be nursing a sunburn. I am constantly being teased about this. For example, when I came back from vacation one summer in Florida my friends were convinced I wore a snowsuit. My college boyfriend would teasingly call me an albino. I just can’t win …even my statement tee “pale is the new tan” isn’t working so I have given up on waiting for pale skin to come back into favor and have instead turned to trying every self tanning product on the market.
Michael Kors Leg Shine $32 @ Neiman Marcus
Today, I tried Michael Kors Leg Shine. I’m wearing a white skirt & peep-toe flats so I needed a golden boost. The Michael Kors Leg Shine smells delicious, is easy to apply, and gives you a sun kissed glow that as the name suggests, shines. The color blends nicely, isn’t orange in the least, and while the color is settle…it gives my pale legs a HUGE boost. I highly recommend it, and think it is worth the $32…the great smell & ease of use are huge pluses in my book.
I should also mention I am loyal to the following self tanners & bronzers:
I always have Neutrogena self-tanner on hand. I am a very loyal Clarins customer. For my face I swear by Bobbi Brown’s shimmer brick in Bronze & and I frequently use Stila’s Sun compact.
