girl flying kite
pitt artist’s pen on paper
inspire me thursday

i would wish for windy days as a little girl for the chance that i could go fly my kite. my brother and i would always ask for the coolest kites, but we found that sometimes the cheap triangle ones work just as well.

great drawing… love the way you did those clouds. cool blog as well – i’ll be sure to check this out regularly to find out what’s “in” and “out” in the world of fashion. (My God, I sound so old already)

I did make my own kite…in art class i made a HUGE fish windsock kite…it was so cool. i wish i still had it. some of my friends in college actually found this equally large fish windsock kite…it was ugly and gray. they hung it up in their dorm room, and despite the fact it was terribly ugly i was jealous that they had a fish kite and i didn’t.

Wow, that takes me back….I remember making those! You know, I always see people flying elaborate modern kites on the beach and it looks like so much fun. I keep saying I’ll buy one but it never happens. Maybe you’ll inspire me to finally go for it. This illustration is GREAT for Child’s Play. I love the perspective and what you’ve done with the clouds!

Oh how I love your illustration! I feel more at ease with paper and pencil than coloring so am very much liking this!

At Easter Scarecrow and I would buy kites for Joy and Dale then hide it along with eggs and candy. One time Joy had trouble finding her kite, so I asked her to help me load the dishwasher. When she opened it up, there was her Easter Basket and a kite! Somewhere there is a picture of it, maybe I’ll post it next Easter.

I love this drawing! I love the energetic lines – they make me think of wind – and I love the perspective of the kite. When my siblings and I were kids, we’d spend our summers in Montauk, and one of our summer rituals was the buying and flying of kites. They were pretty basic kites, but we had so much choosing the color combinations and then competing with each other to see who could fly the highest and longest. Thanks for bringing back that memory…
