I first saw Sasha Pivovarova’s intriguing self portraits in an issue of Teen Vogue, awhile back. I have to say I am just captivated by her art, not by her beauty, but by the raw emotion she captures in them. She is talented, and her work is inspiring. Her “I Spy” Exhibit (her first art exhibit) debuted during all of the Fashion week madness on Friday February 8, 2008 here in New York at the Mansion Night Club. The Exhibit featured both photographs and drawings.

Sasha highlighted bits of her inspiration, creative process, and some of her current works in progress in this 5 question interview done by V Magazine. I have to say after seeing some of her drawings featured in the exhibit and reading that interview I’m tempted to tape some paper to my walls at home and just start to draw like a mad woman. 🙂

I’m was not so familiar with her until realizing that she is also an artist. Her artwork is very bold and interesting. It seems very fitting that a model would also be an artist as well, both are very creative. She is both inspiring designers and expressing their vision as well as being inspired herself to make art. How cool is that?!!
