Herve Leger’s iconic bandage dress has been revived by Max Azria and is now in fine form. The dresses fit like a glove, but the bandages seem to have a contouring effect thereby creating evening wear that can be both sexy and flattering! Even so, there is no doubt that the silhouette is not for everyone. The look is one that can be pulled off with great success (look no further than ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ actress, Emily Blunt, on the red carpet at last year’s Golden Globes wearing a stunning cream mermaid gown), or the look can be disastrous (example: an intoxicated Lindsay Lohan in a rainbow hued bandage dress, and more recently, Joss Stone wearing a similar version sitting in the front row).
Max Azria’s take on the bandage dress was embellished with feathers, rosettes, intricately woven ribbon, and sequins.
There were also a few looks for day that I found highly intriguing– namely the knits with the basket woven detail. The camel funnel neck cardigan that was belted and worn as a dress looked like it had the potential of being a cozy yet stylish winter favorite for me!
Ultimately, it is safe to expect to see an increase number of bandage dresses gracing the red carpet.
