I decided to give the crackle nail finish another try when I spied Sally Hansen’s Crackle Overcoat in Vintage Violet at my local CVS. Swatch photos and my thoughts on the formula can be found below:
The formula is much thinner than the O.P.I. formula, so I wasn’t thrilled with that either. I applied the crackle finish on top of Essie’s Lilacism. The effect started almost instantly as the top coat is very fast to dry. The cracks started with deep center cracks and slowly splintered off. When all was said and done my nails looked like a textured mess.  The bottle cost me $7.50, so it isn’t much cheaper than many of the other salon brand polishes and I wouldn’t recommend it on value or quality.

My vote is for you to skip this.
