Diane von Furstenburg’s A/W 2008 collection was inspired by Wartime Berlin of the 1940’s. In her show notes she wrote:
“Our muse strides through Berlin’s dark streets with a secret in heart and diamonds sewn into the hem of her dress. Her wardrobe: slender, feminine silhouettes marries with elements of masculine tailoring and effortless modern layering.”
Nearly every look was cinched at the waist with a skinny belt. Hats and leather gloves completed the theme and added equal amounts of glamour and polish. The collection was chic and sophisticated, but there were healthy doses of color, prints, and sexy silhouettes to keep things from getting too buttoned up.
