Cookies for Kids’ Cancer aims to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research. The organization was started after 2-year old Liam was diagnosed with a deadly form of pediatric cancer called Neuroblastoma, a cancer that only about 30% of children survive. His parents where shocked to discover how lack of funding played such a great role in these odds. In fact, Pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 18. So, Liam’s parents, Gretchen & Larry, were immediately called to action. Gretchen had a simple yet ambitious idea to hold a bake sale with a goal of baking 96,000 cookies with friends and volunteers. Friends, co-workers, neighbors, and other families whose children were also battling pediatric cancer rushed to help. With their help, all 96,000 cookies were sold in three weeks, and the event raised over $400,000 for pediatric cancer research. Of course, it was clear that this simple act was the start of something bigger than Gretchen had initially imagined. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was born, and is committed to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer. Through the concept of local bake sales, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer will provide the inspiration and support for people like you to help children win their fight against cancer.
