I’ve long desired to dive into making delicious pastry treats, but now that I have a 6 month old demanding all of my time and attention, mastering a flaky puff pastry from scratch is just not a reasonable goal. I instead relied on the frozen food aisle for a seemingly fancy but ridiculously easy & QUICK treat. Untitled


  • 1 package Frozen Puff Pastry Sheets (Defrosted Overnight)
  • 1 package Chocolate Baking Chips (I used Gihiraldi 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • {optional} pinch of sea salt/pinch of cinnamon



  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Unfold defrosted pastry sheets onto work area and cut into rectangles (6×3 is a good size).
  • Sprinkle chocolate on one side of rectangle.
  • If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt/cinnamon on choclate chips. Fold over rectangle and place on baking sheet (with fold on bottom).
  • In a small bowl whisk egg and tablespoon of water together. With pastry brush apply the egg wash on top of pastries awaiting baking.
  • Bake for approx 20 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool for 8 to 10 minutes before serving.
