sweet wedding snippets

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Our wedding is a mere month away. My hope is that it will be a fun, stress-free day filled with a whole lot of laughter and love. Until I have my own wedding snippets to share, here are a few that I simply adore:

{top} Custom Wooden Puzzle for wedding guestbook (custom words and shapes) ($280 for 50 pieces, $625 for 120 pieces ) by Bella Puzzles; Cake by the Cakery in St. Louis via Style Me Pretty;  Custom Wedding Dress Hanger  $27 by Lila Frances;
{bottom} Hair by Kelly Zhang via Project Wedding; Romona Keveza gown featured on Style Me Pretty and now for sale hereCustom Cake Forks $36 by Lisa Leonard;rose & orchid bridal bouquet via The Bride's Cafe;

Escort Display at this Destination Wedding set in Eureka Springs, AR (I was thrilled to see this location on display...my grandparents live in Eureka Springs and it is indeed a gorgeous place) via Style Me Pretty; Kathryn's (of Snippet & Ink) wedding dress hanging in this window. This house looks magical to me and reminds me a bit of the house in the film the Romantics. See all of the images here (shot by Elizabeth Messina); and

Details from this poolside wedding in Palm Springs: the cake table, guest book photo set up with a vintage California scarf as a backdrop, and the boutonnieres were my personal favorites via Green Wedding Shoes;  and a sweet getaway ride at another Cali wedding via Green Wedding Shoes;

{ten on tuesday} spring favorites

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

My winter wardrobe is still getting a lot of air time lately, and I've been longing to break out some warm weather pieces.  Until then, layering is a girl's best friend. Here are ten spring accessories & wardrobe essentials that have been calling my name:

  1. Rebecca Minkoff Lolita Sunglass Pouch $95 available for pre-order (ships April 29th)- Nevermind the fact that I keep my sunglasses in their case, I am defenseless against adorable pouches. Rebecca Minkoff has some of the best around, this one happens to be my favorite.
  2. Elizabeth and James Park Wayfarer Sunglasses $155 @ Saks- I rarely leave my house without my Ray-Ban aviators, but a pair of tortoise shell wayfarers might be a nice way to switch things up
  3. Cole Haan Maria Sharapova "Air Viola" Caged Sandals $198 @ Bloomingdales- These are right on trend, and the thing about nude heels is that they really help elongate your leg...I'm a mere 5'4 so I can use a boost. Additionally, Cole Haan shoes have Nike Air technology built in so they are a bit more comfortable than your average caged sandal!
  4. color collage ballad dress $135 @ Madewell- The print on this dress immediately brings to mind the impressionist floral paintings I admire. Printed skirts and dresses have served as fantastic building blocks for my recent looks. Spring has been rather frigid in NYC, so one can easily wear a dress like this with a blazer and tights now, and alone with sandals later if and when the weather decides to cooperate.
  5. Prada Canvas & Cinghiale Flap Bag $1,250- Prada's new preppy striped bags make me want to cry out in delight. The price tag, not so much.
  6. SHORT JACKET $129 @ Zara- I love the idea of pairing a cropped white blazer with a bold hued dress.
  7. Perforated leather shoulder bag $300 J.Crew at Net-a-porter- I am always strangely drawn to perforated leather and J.Crew has some nice options in both shoes & bags. Neutral accessories are definitely a must for spring, this would work well as an everyday bag.
  8. Kate Spade tipsy cap-toe flats $198- I fell instantly in love with this pop of yellow (or pink) on these flats- they are selling out on the Kate Spade site so order them over at Endless while you can, Belle by Sigerson Morrison has a pretty pink cap-toe flat as well for a bit more cash
  9. Melted Gemstone Bangles $38 @ Anthropologie- these are brilliant, versatile, and affordable...I plan on pairing these with everything from denim to a pretty coral dress.
  10. J.Crew Wave Tank $88- I love silk tanks & wouldn't think of kicking my love for stripes, so this is perfect. The fact the stripes are going in an alternate direction makes this tank a bit more flattering, I think.

Drugstore Detours: Orange Nails

I am fully embracing orange this season, a color that has previously been on short supply in my beauty arsenal as well as my wardrobe. I tend to flock towards more muted shades, but I decided to liven things up on a rainy weekend with a bold dash of orange in the form of Revlon's Siren nail polish. If you're interested, Revlon also has a matching lipstick in Siren. The polish goes on smoothly, and covers nicely. Two coats aren't necessary to get the pigmentation, but I applied two on top of a clear topcoat in hopes of it lasting longer. Makes me feel a bit warmer just glancing down out them! Purchase this polish at your local drugstore, or buy it online here.
