Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Un-Boxing

Saturday, January 30, 2010

My Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Palette that I ordered from Sephora was delivered yesterday and I couldn't have been more excited to see the goods in person! It is one of the most beautiful palettes I've ever had! Check out the images and my swatches below:

I give the packaging an A+++

Now to the Important Stuff:

Eyeliner & Primer

Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliners are always right up there with my favorites (I am a big fan of Rockstar & Gunmetal) so I was thrilled to have zero and flipside included in this palette. I love a good black eyeliner so I know I'll love zero. Flipside is the perfect blue to play around with just for fun.

The mini primer (in sin) is the perfect size for traveling. The formula for this primer is absolutely amazing it allows for perfect blending, great staying power, and amazing color intensity. The genie bottle packaging is no good...the tube packaging from too faced is far superior and the formula is just as good! If UD would just change to a tube, we might be in business because I really do love the "sin" shade of this primer.

Swatches:
{top} Underland (Flash), Alice (Painkiller), Oraculum (Baked), Queen (Last Call), Muchness (X), Mushroom (Mushroom), Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again), Vorpal (S&M)
{bottom} Chessur (Chopper), White Rabbit (Polyester Bride), Wonderland (Maui Wowie), Curiouser (Grifter), Absolem (Homegrown), Drink Me Eat Me (Sin), Mad Hatter (Twice Baked), Jabberwocky (Oil Slick)

{top} Underland (Flash), Alice (Painkiller), Oraculum (Baked), Queen (Last Call),
{bottom} Chessur (Chopper), White Rabbit (Polyester Bride), Wonderland (Maui Wowie), Curiouser (Grifter),

{top} Muchness (X), Mushroom (Mushroom), Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again), Vorpal (S&M)
{bottom} Absolem (Homegrown), Drink Me Eat Me (Sin), Mad Hatter (Twice Baked), Jabberwocky (Oil Slick)

My favorite UD shades in the palette include Queen (Last Call), Absolem (Homegrown), Underland (Flash), Alice (Painkiller), Drink Me, Eat Me (Sin), & Vorpal (S&M),

My least favorites include Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again), White Rabbit (Polyester Bride), & Jabberwocky (Oil Slick) (Although oil slick makes for an awesome liner) Although all three are completely useable, just require a little more effort.

The Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Palette is available now at Sephora and at Ulta

Apple Announces iPad

Steve Jobs announced the much anticipated iPad (Apple Tablet). I am not a fan of the name, but the product features are pretty amazing! The iPad looks sleek with a touch screen, aluminum back, and is only a half an inch thick. It looks like a giant iPhone, and like the iPhone/iPod Touch it will have full internet capabilities, access to email, photos, music, & apps. It will also have iBook, an e-reader app, and of course an accompanying iBookstore which will work similar to the AppStore in order to download e-books directly to your device. The iPad will be available in April 2010 with prices starting at $499 for 16GB of flash memory and Wi-Fi. Models that support 3G will run $130 more than Wi-Fi only models. Check out the full product overview video from the Apple website below:

Urban Decay Disney Alice In Wonderland Palette Available At Sephora

The Urban Decay Disney Alice In Wonderland Palette is now available at Sephora after a 24 hour demand initiated delay! I saw some swatches over on Lipglossiping yesterday and fell in love. Despite the fact that I am a little disappointed that Midnight Cowboy Rides Again* made the cut (as Midnight Tea Party) I am really excited to receive my palette! I ordered online so I won't be able to test it out until the weekend, but you can check out these swatches & photos from Lipglossiping and click on over to read her thoughts and reviews here.

*I realize this is one of UD's bestsellers so that is why it is included, but I own this full sized shadow and find it to be incredibly frustrating to work with. I will wear it only with a good primer (Urban Decay or Too Faced Primers work best for me...I happen to like the Too Faced packaging better) and a bit of M.A.C. Fix +. I used it in my Sugar Plum Fairy Tutorial. :)

Palette:

Palette includes:
Eyeshadows (w/UD Common Name): Underland (Flash), Alice (Painkiller), Oraculum (Baked), Queen (Last Call), Chessur (Chopper), White Rabbit (Polyester Bride), Wonderland (Maui Wowie), Curiouser (Grifter), Muchness (X), Mushroom, Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again), Vorpal (S&M), Absolem (Homegrown), Drink Me Eat Me (Sin), Mad Hatter (Twice Baked), Jabberwocky (Oil Slick)
Eyeliners: 24/7 Pencil In Zero, 24/7 Pencil In Flipside
Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion (Mini)

Pop-Up:

Shadows:
Eyeshadows (w/UD Common Name): Underland (Flash), Alice (Painkiller), Oraculum (Baked), Queen (Last Call) (ONE OF MY FAVORITE UD shades of all time!), Chessur (Chopper), White Rabbit (Polyester Bride), Wonderland (Maui Wowie), Curiouser (Grifter), Muchness (X), Mushroom, Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again), Vorpal (S&M), Absolem (Homegrown), Drink Me Eat Me (Sin), Mad Hatter (Twice Baked), Jabberwocky (Oil Slick)

Muchos Besos

A special thanks to Beso.com for giving PBL a shout out over the weekend! What a great way to start the week! Beso is a fabulous online shopping tool that has an accompanying blog with great recommendations. They recently named Philosophy's "The Present", their "favorite non-makeup makeup". "The Present" sounds like a winner to me, so I'll have to check it out! While I'm off spending my hard earned cash, be sure to stop over at Beso and their companion blog!

Gadget Girl MultiMedia Picks

It is no secret, I am the ultimate gadget girl that must be connected at all times. Here are a few gadgets and gizmos I love, can't live without, or would love to have!

My Pictures3

{clockwise}
  • I love my MacBook, when it comes time to get a new computer I might spring for the MacBook Pro;
  • No laptop is complete without a stylish laptop bag! Coach poppy graffiti print laptop sleeve $78;
  • I'm a Blackberry girl, but if Apple switched from AT&T to Verizon I would go with the iPhone in a nanosecond!;
  • Kingston DataTraveler 101 - 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DT101N/4GB (Pink) $14.60;
  • Nikon D90 (would love to upgrade my Nikon D40X to this!);
  • I can't live without my Nike +...if you aren't a fan of running with music you can still use the Nike Sportband to track your milage, pace, and calories burned!;
  • PlayStation 3 -great for gamers, but it also doubles as a Blu-Ray disc player...it was the best gift I gave myself in 2009!;
  • Nintendo DSi (I have this in blue and LOVE it) $170;
  • Sony Reader Pocket Edition Digital Book $200--I received this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. With the Nook, Kindle and the upcoming Apple Tablet this certainly has a lot of competition, but this does the trick for me and beats juggling heavy books on the subway!
  • The Apple Nano received a major upgrade...it now has an FM tuner and shoots video! sweet...I have a 3rd generation nano that I use everyday at the gym with my Nike+ kit the music keeps me running and the sensor tracks my progress! When mine finally gives out I will certainly purchase this again.
  • Roxy JBL On Ear Headphones-- combining style and sound at a reasonable price $69.95
  • Samsung HMX-H100 Compact Full HD Camcorder Bundle $299 I recently purchased this camera and couldn't be happier with the camera given it's fantastic price!

Wet 'N Wild e/s in gypsy (M.A.C. White Frost will work perfectly as well, but if you are on a budget any white shade will do!)

Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

Cynthia Rowley has collaborated with surf label Roxy to create a 40 pieces of sportswear line for the brand. The Cynthia Rowley for Roxy collection will launch in March 2010 at Barneys New York, Colette in Paris, and Cynthia Rowley boutiques. The collection will also be available for pre-order sometime this month on the Cynthia Rowley website. The pretty pastels, neon accents, and retro accessories (wide neoprene headband, round white sunglasses) make it hard not to love this collection. The black monokini, tasseled sandals, neoprene ballet flats, and oversized grey hoodie are among my personal favorites. Can't wait to rock this collection out east this summer!
