McQ for Target's Designer Collaborations
Friday, January 30, 2009
Alexander McQueen is bringing Rock 'n Roll style to the masses with his capsule collection for Target's Designer Collaborations, not to be confused with Target's Go International line (a line Target is reserving for emerging talent). The Designer Collborations will focus on collaborating with well established designers like McQueen! The collection will hit stores & Target.com sometime in March. However, if you are going to be in NYC on February 14th & 15th you will get a chance to snag yourself some of these looks at the Target pop-up "McQ Market" which will be located at St. John's Center (330 West Street at West Houston Street) from noon until 10pm on February 14th and 15th! The pop-up will be modeled after Camden Market, and word has it local artists will be around to customize whatever you want! :)
Here are my favorite looks from the McQ for Target capsule collection:

I really love the new look of the Sobe Life Water bottles:
They taste pretty good too :)
Vanessa Bruno S/S 2009
Wednesday, January 28, 2009
I have been obsessing over all things Vanessa Bruno. Beginning with these lovely lookbook images:
They have a dream-like quality to them that I find to be so alluring. Alluring is also one word that could be used to describe the ready-to-wear collection:
S/S RTW 2009 collection:
The collection is sleek & sexy. I love the slits, cut-out details, and mix of sheer fabrics. The black dresses are my favorite, but it is just an all around beautiful collection.
S/S 2009 Athe Collection:
The Athe collection is always more my speed. I could see myself wearing these looks again, again, & again. The drop shoulder navy jacket and paper-bag waisted skirt are essential items for my spring wardrobe!
Athe S/S 2009 accessories:
I find the brightly colored accessories to be refreshing especially when paired with a neutral ensemble. How I wouldn't love the bright yellow bag, pink belt, or the kelly green shoes!
See more from Vanessa Bruno here.
Foley + Corinna Spring/Summer 2009
Tuesday, January 27, 2009
The S/S 2009 apparel line from Foley + Corinna is full of long whimsical dresses for summer. Fear not, they have plenty of mini-dresses to go around as well. The prints and patterns in these particular looks have me completely smitten:

Smashbox MUSE Artist Eye Palette

(left swatch=row 1/ right swatch=row 2)
I recently purchased Smashbox's Artist Eye Palette which contains ten eyeshadows and an eyshadow brush for $48. The shades are really beautiful with a nice velvety finish that is easy to blend. The first row of shadows is a lighter version of the second row. The colors appear on the skin exactly how they appear in the palette. My favorite shade is the second row green! The possibilities for spring with this palette are endless! :) Available @ Nordstrom & Sephora.

Scarlett Johansson for Dolce & Gabanna Beauty

Scarlett Johansson is the face for Dolce & Gabbana's first cosmetics collection, for the face of their first cosmetics collection that will be hitting stores this spring. The ad campaign, photographed by Sølve Sundsbø, is super sexy, with Scarlett looking like the modern day Marilyn Monroe.
The collection will be packaged in glossy gold compacts with rounded corners. There will be three looks to the line, “Lustful Lips,” inspired by a silver screen siren with dark ruby colored lips and nails; “Provocative Eyes,” a smoky eye and pale lip, and “Sensually Natural,” a pared-back look of neutral hues. The collection retail from nail lacquer for $20; mascara for $28; lipsticks for $30, eye shadow duos for $36, and perfect finish powder foundation for $59. The collection will debut here in the states at Saks Fifth Avenue sometime in March.
Marni's Summer Edition

{image via Vogue UK via The Fashion Spot}
I've always been attracted to the bold prints and colors offered up by Marni, so I was thrilled to hear about Marni's new capsule collection, "The Summer Edition" that will debut in stores in Februray. The collection will feature bold colors and prints in easy, vacation-ready fabrics. In edition to clothing, there will also be chunky necklaces, and printed shoulder bags (featuring prints designed by Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon). The collection is set to be cool & fun, and I can think of no better way to kick off the warmer season.
And while, I have Marni on the brain I might as well post some of my favorite looks from the S/S RTW collection. I am dying for one of these necklaces.

A.P.C. Spring 2009
A.P.C.'s spring 2009 collection stays true to the "less is more" aesthetic they consistantly favor. The result is a series of chic looks that are versatile, and simple yet cool. This spring I won't hesitate to pair the Hamilton dress with a pair of canvas Nikes and a bright blue satin belt, nor will I bat an eye before pairing a blazer with shorts, or brightly colored socks with platform sandals. The rule is: keep it simple, but never boring.

Sundance Style: Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel was a Sundance style standout this year! While her dresses were amazing, I was completely smitten by her outerwear choices more than anything. She wore a darling Karen Walker royal blue coat & a red double breasted coat. Lucky for us, outwear is on sale this time of year!

Open letter to the Obama Girls from the Bush Twins
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
Jenna & Barbara Bush have published an open letter to Sasha & Malia Obama in the Wall Street Journal.
I found it to be very sweet, and it certainly contained very good advice.
Read it here.
Porter Grey

Porter Grey's fall/winter collection was full of jewel toned frocks fit for a Park avenue princess. I can't wait to see their Spring 2009 collection. For now, I am dreaming of that red dress with the gathered hem! See more from Porter Grey here.
Jason Wu dresses the First Lady, Michelle Obama

{images via AP}
Our new First Lady, Michelle Obama, looked amazing last night in a gown designed by Jason Wu! Mrs. Obama totally redeemed herself in my eyes after her earlier fashion choice. She looked amazing in this ivory gown, and it of course reminded us all how much we love Jason Wu's collection of work. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us in a couple weeks when he shows at New York Fashion Week.

Cosmetics Settlement=Free Makeup
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
Makeup addicts everywhere rejoiced today when they lined up at their most frequented department stores to claim their free makeup thanks to a class action lawsuit settlement. The lawsuit was filed a decade ago by nine women in California claiming that cosmetic manufacturers and retailers conspired to keep the prices of their products artificially high thereby violating the antitrust and consumer protection laws. While the cosmetic companies did not admit to any wrongdoing they agreed to a settlement to avoid litigation. The result, free makeup for those of us who have shopped at department store cosmetic counters between May 29, 1994 and July 16, 2003.
Each affected consumer can receive one free cosmetic product on a first come, first served basis and while supplies last beginning January 20. Participating retailers include Bloomingdale's, Bergner's, Boston Store, Bergdorf Goodman, Dillard's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Parisian, Saks Fifth Avenue, Carson Pirie Scott, Gottschalks, Herberger's, and Younkers. Brands include Chanel, Clarins, Estee Lauder, Clinique and Lancome.
I of course, lined up at Saks Fifth Avenue here in Manhattan to collect Lancome's Fatale Mascara (which retails for $23). The line looked crazy long (it wrapped around the entire first floor), but I was in line for 5 minutes tops. I picked my brand (see a full list here), received a ticket, was handed a Lancome product and walked out the door. It was painless, and I do love me some Lancome mascara! See a photo of my "prize" below:

Madonna for Louis Vuitton
I am always amazed by how good Madonna looks at her age. Sure, these Louis Vuitton ads are heavily retouched (what ads aren't?), but the positions she is striking in these shots would make even the most agile 19 year old model feel shaky. If nothing else, these photos will have you convinced of the powers of yoga and dance! As for the S/S 2009 Louis Vuitton collection, I am head over heels in love!

Inauguration Day 2009
I am watching the Inauguration live right now on CNN/Facebook. But thought it was appropriate to post this final good-bye video from Dubya:
I am dying to see "You're Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush" starring Will Ferrell! :)
Zooey Deschanel for Oliver People's

These images from the Oliver People's ad campaign featuring Zooey Deschanel are too adorable to overlook! There are so many great spec options in the Oliver People's spring/summer 2009 collection, it might just be impossible to choose just one pair. Which ever pair I settle on, I hope I pull them off as good as Zooey does!

Movie Reel
I took advantage of the long weekend and caught up on my movie watching! Sunday night I went with the BF to see the Wrestler, and on Monday morning I watched Helvetica (finally), then I went to see Slumdog Millionaire! In Bruges should be coming any day now according to my Netflix Queue, and Doubt is next on my list to see in the theater. Slumdog was absolutely amazing (as was the soundtrack). I am convinced that Freida Pinto is the the most beautiful woman alive, and I thought Dev Patel did a great job in the film. Ultimately though I was most impressed by the boys who played the youngest Jamal & the youngest Salim! What wonderful young actors!

Catching Up On My M.A.C.
I have had the Hello Kitty collection on the brain, that I almost skipped over the Dame Edna; Blonde, Brunette, Redhead; & the Chill collections at M.A.C. Thanks to my boyfriend's sisters (Thanks ladies), I now have the Wisteria Eye Trio from the Dame Edna collection, and the Mineralize Skinfinish in Blonde from the Blonde, Brunette, Redhead collection. The skinfinish shade, is pink to rose shade, that is subtle and shimmery and looks really beautiful on. I adore the Wisteria Eye Trio, even more than I thought I would upon catching a first glance at the swatches. The blue shade is simply gorgeous and goes perfect with the frosty silver, and the glittering dark charcoal. The case is also quite nice and includes a mirror. You will hear no more complaints from me on M.A.C.'s packaging!

Up next: I have two lipglass shades from M.A.C.'s Chill collection shipping to me this week! I'll post swatches as soon as the haul comes in :) I of course have a date with Hello Kitty at Bendel's on February 5th to get the goods! I will be counting down the days!
Sunshine Cleaning

Sunshine Cleaning, a 2009 comedy/drama, starring Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin has been placed on my must see list! Amy Adams, plays a 30 something single mother, who in order to pay for her son to attend private school goes into business with her unreliable sister (Emily Blunt) cleaning up crime scenes.
