I am so excited for the Sex & The City movie! I really hope I'm not setting myself up for disappointment, but judging from the movie stills I will LOVE the fashion! In honor of the movie opening today I have compiled my favorite stills (along with my commentary on the recent Vogue shoot featuring Sarah Jessica Parker & Chris Noth as Carrie & Big):

Vogue June/July 2008 "Rebel Romance" story featuring Carrie & Big--While I find the theme of the Vogue shoot, "What if Carrie & Big had a honeymoon in New York" to be uninspired, Annie Leibowitz takes gorgeous photos...



I also find the "fake Vogue" shots that are featured in the movie to be far more flattering to Sarah Jessica then any of the shots featured in the actual Vogue magazine. But the real problem I have with this Vogue story is more due to the cover. The HORRENDOUS Vogue June/July 2008 cover brought back memories of the Sex & The City Episode, "They Shoot Single People Don't They?" (ep. 16), where Carrie arrives late for a magazine cover shoot & the results are beyond disastorous. One of the test shots where she has no make up & is smoking a cigarette is featured on the cover under the headline "Single and Fabulous?". Once Carrie sees the cover, she protests, "I'm all over the city looking like something that got caught in a drain." I couldn't describe this recent Vogue cover featuring Sarah Jessica Parker better myself...

Tristan Prettyman's cover of Britney Spears' Toxic is fabulous--it is one track on my ipod that never fails to make me smile. A video of her performing the track live recently popped up on YouTube so I found it a appropriate to share. Also, did you see her perform her single on "Madly" on Jay Leno (May 22nd)?!...I actually just caught it on one of the late night reairings and she looked fabulous! I bought a pair of Nine West Heech wedge gladiator sandals today and I am absolutely in love! They add 4" to my height and are ridiculously comfortable--seriously, what more can a girl ask for?! Apparently, I was pretty lucky to find them in my size because they are in high demand--so hurry on over to your local Nine West! Now, I kind of want them in black! :) At $89 they are a steal, so why not!? Order yours here.

There is no denying that Scarlett is a force to be reckoned with. She is gorgeous, talented and has just released an album full of Tom Waits covers hence the reason why she is gracing the cover of NYLON magazine's music issue. Aside from the shoes and the cool guitar I don't love the cover shot, but the shot with her in the yellow shoes and the shots of her lying down won me over. As for her album, "Anywhere I lay my head", I would categorize it as disappointing. Scarlett has an amazing voice (take a listen to her single Summertime if you don't want to take my word for it), but her album simply doesn't do it justice. While I wouldn't be so harsh to say this is a karaoke effort--David Bowie is featured on the album(!) and Tom Waits has reportedly given his blessing, it is just not mind blowing (and a bit overhyped!). Nevertheless, the fact I don't love her album doesn't stop me from loving this feature of her, or her work as an actress! :)

I saw these photos of this Circus themed fashion shoot featuring Jessica Stam and I had to post them here! Stam's ice-blue eyes pierce through every shot and who doesn't love a Circus! The first two shots in the top row are my favorites. Stam may just be my favorite model (at the very least, she is the flavor of the month given that I just posted about her shoot Stardust Memories!)

One of my favorite places in NYC is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Cherry Walk, so it should really come as no surprise that I cannot stop watching this time lapse video of the trees blooming this spring.




The timelapse was created by Dave Allen from over 3,000 digital photos, one taken every 3 minutes from April 18 to April 26, 2008.

I really love this fashion shoot featured in Vogue's UK June 2008 issue of Jessica Stam. It was shot by Patrick Demarchelier and it is fabulous.

The hat shot reminds me a bit of A Clockwork Orange for some reason, but I really can't get over how gorgeous Stam looks in the top two shots below... just stunning!

Last night all the stars & fashionistas came out for the Metropolitan Museum's annual Costume Institute gala. This year's theme was Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy (the exhibit officially opens Wednesday, May 7th), George Clooney, Julia Roberts & Anna Wintour were the chairs, while designer Giorgio Armani served as this year's honorary chair.
