I posted about Kate Spade's Desktop Profiles section last week, so I though I would photograph a few of the books currently sitting on my desk. I am a book fanatic and I am of the opinion you can never have too many (the same goes for shoes!). Alot of the books pictured here are new titles. For instance, I just picked up "How Sassy Changed My Life" and I can't wait to read it. Last night I was reading another new acquistion, "Slim" by Cynthia Rowley. Before bed, I was soaking in the beautiful and imaginative illustrations when my boyfrend did a double take and then in an accusatory tone said: "ARE YOU READING A FAIRY TALE!!!?? I can't believe you're reading a fairy tale!" It was pretty funny, although he was not too far off. He knows I have a fascination with children's books, and Rowley's fantasy memoir does feel a bit like a children's book...her whimisical illustrations would certainly not feel out of place in one! I just have to get something off my chest & vent a little bit today, because I just happened to notice some random girl on myspace using this photo as her profile picture.

I mean I'm flattered someone would even want to take one of my photos, but at the very least they should credit me. Unless the person came into my parents backyard in Newton, Iowa then I am 99.9% sure this photo is mine. If that is the case then then just forget I even mentioned it--I should instead be applauding them for getting the lighting and bubbles to be in identical positions! I work hard to credit images & ensure I have proper links every day, so I would appreciate it if people showed me & everyone else the same courtesy!

Sophie is so funny in the mornings. She wakes up the same time everyday for her walk and then comes back, plays for a little while, and then goes back to bed. By the time she is ready for her nap, the lights have already been turned on and we are getting ready for work. Sophie will then burrow under the covers on the bed (messing the bed up in the process) and sleeps under a heap of blankets. Maybe she likes the dark, maybe she likes the quiet, or maybe she just doesn't want to be found. Very often the boyfriend and I have to ask each other "Where's Sophie" before realizing the heap of blankets is her. You think it would be obvious, but there are some days when she is quiet and you just know she is doing something naughty in the other room. Take today for instance, when I found her standing near my desk with dollar bills surrounding her!!! Apparently, she had been nosing around in my bag (or my pocket??) and found some cash. Believe me, it was a surprise to both of us that I actually had cash! I am currently attempting to piece together my shredded bills in hopes that the bodega down the street will accept them for coffee, so in the meantime I have enlisted Sophie to pick some doggy goods that she would like to spend those dollars on.

When I was growing up in the "corn castle" there was a girl, who when asked what her favorite color was, she would respond with the answer "clear". I always found this to be funny. I think her name was Crystal, so it would make sense that her favorite color was not a color at all, but her name makes her response more reasonable and slightly less amusing. I should also add she was not a friend of mine. In fact, I was quite the opposite. She was the type of girl that could have enthusiastically & easily beat me up after school for being a "prep". She never did that, but that is probably because I never had the notoriety that would have placed my name at the top of her target list. I am sure that title belonged to a Regina George-esque "Plastic". Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because my new favorite color of the season happens to be "clear".
