Bond No. 9 Bryant Park In Stores Tomorrow!

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

I can't wait, because I have been crying over my depleted sample!!

Bond No. 9's Bryant Park was inspired by midtown's Bryant Park, home to New York City's Fashion Week. The fragrance has notes of rose, patchouli, pink pepper, lily of the valley, rhubarb, raspberry and amber.

This has become my new favorite fragrance. Having been a fan of West Side, I find Bryant Park to be even more pleasing to the senses. The scent is pretty, flirty, and wearable. The notes blend nicely, and none are too overpowering. I like how the rhubarb adds a bit of tartness to the top notes, and how the pink pepper & patchouli contrasts with the sweeter raspberry & floral notes. When the scent dries down you will notice the rhubarb & raspberry, but i don't find it to be too sweet or too girly.

It will be available in 50 ml ($125) or 100 ml ($185) bottles of Eau de Parfum, or by the ounce in the Bond no. 9 boutiques in New York City

Pre-Order it today on the bond no. 9 website and have it shipped to you first thing tomorrow, or pick it up at the nearest Bond store & select SAKS Fifth Avenue location.

despite the fact that tyra has yet to produce a top model, i continue to watch this show religiously, so i will be tuning into the CW tonight for the 2 hour season premiere. as a result, my boyfriend will surely be watching tv in the other room, & sophie, out of confusion, will sit in the hallway unable to choose who to cuddle up next to.

Secrets of the Model Dorm

I just finished reading "Secrets of the Model Dorm" by Amanda Kerlin & Paul Oh. This book is a fun and fast read--perfect for the beach or 10 minute subway rides! I found her depiction of the private side of the modeling life to be both entertaining and alarmingly accurate. The competition in the fashion industry is fierce, and this book offers a glimpse at the life of aspiring models. Amanda Kerlin, an ex-model herself, documents the life of her alter ego "Heather" and the pressures, the stress, the backstabbing, the men, casual sex, drug usage, partying, and cramped living she endures. Anyone who has ever aspired to be a model should read this book.
side note: The head of "THE AGENCY" in the book (a/k/a Rachel) reminded me a bit of the agent Becky on the show "The Agency" currently airing on VH1.

Purchase "Secrets of the Model Dorm" for $15.61 @ amazon.com

Oscar Red Carpet Fashion Report

BEST DRESSED:
penelope cruz in versace:

GORGEOUS!!!

reese witherspoon in nina ricci:

ove the hair, love the color on her! absolute perfection

jennifer lopez in marchesa & helen mirren in christain lacroix:

loved both of these dresses
Gwenteth Paltrow in Zac Posen:

(when i first saw her I totally thought it was claire danes)

Rinko Kikuchi in Chanel & Cameron Diaz in Valentino:

both make my most improved list from the golden globes!!!

Portia de Rossi is smoking hot!

Emily Blunt & Michael Buble

love the color, love the sparkle, love the fiance!

Jessica Biel in Oscar De La Renta, Kate Winslet in a mint dress

Maggie Gylenhaal in Proenza Schouler, Rachel Weiz in a jeweled strapless gown:

Nicole Kidman & Isla Fischer in jewel tones:

Cate Blanchett won me over in Armani:

Worst Dressed: Dreamgirls:

hated the jacket on Jennifer Hudson, I hated the pockets on her, I wasn't sure about Beyonce's dress, it wasn't the best choice for her. I liked both of their dresses they performed in better than the ones they sported on the red carpet.

Kirsten Dunst missed with this choice (i believe it is Chanel (??)):

she didn't even get the hair & makeup right!

anne hathaway:

hate this dress on her, and she over did the jewels

The show was way way way too long, I loved the singing performances (especially the one with Will Ferrell, Jack Black, and John C. Reilly) I loved Ellen, I hated the 200 million 20 minute film clip reels!!!

Oscar Picks & Red Carpet Predictions

Sunday, February 25, 2007

I have my picks, I went back and forth and I am predicting some major upsets, maybe a few too many. I just saw Peter O' Toole in Venus, and although he has an honorary Oscar, I think it is a travesty that he hasn't won an oscar for best actor. I think he is more than overdue. This year the competition is fierce. I've watched so many great movies this year and I can say there are few if any people who could win and would be undeserving! In any event, here are my picks. As for the red carpet I am predicting to see some beautiful gowns from marchesa, badgley mischka, monique lhuillier, & hopefully some zac posen, on the red carpet...also a lot of white, blush & netural tones, metallics, with a few jewel tones thrown in (i am hoping for bolder color any ways!).

Best Actor: Peter O'Toole- Venus
Best Supporting Actor: Mark Wahlberg- The Departed
Best Actress: Helen Mirren- The Queen
Best Supoorting Actress: Jennifer Hudson- Dreamgirls
Directing: Babel
Documentary Feature: An Inconvenient Truth

Best Picture: Babel
Costume: Marie Antoinette

Original Screenplay-The Queen
Adapted Screenplay- Notes on A Scandal (ALTHOUGH I WANT BORAT TO WIN FOR THIS!!!)
Sound Mixing: Pirates of the Caribbean
Sound Editing: Letters From Iwa Jima
Short Film Animated- The Danish Poet
Short Film Live Action- West Bank Story
