a girl on a rainy day original ink drawing on etsy
i can't wait for spring flowers & warm weather, but i'm dreading the rain. i hate the days where the city is a dreary, sloppy mess. i hate walking my dog in the rain, i hate the smell of my dog in the rain, and i especially hate muddy paw prints. days like that are days i wish i had a cat (sorry sophie!). ...now, having said this it may seem odd to you that i really do love spring weather gear...trench coats, wellies, & umbrellas. i love the idea of wearing fun colors & prints on days when the city will be nothing but black & gray, so i have put together some rainy weather gear picks that will get you through the first few weeks of spring!
spring jackets & trenches:
i can't wait to wear my proenza scholer for target bubble print jacket, and i still adore my hot pink trench coat, but lately i have been "visiting" a certain coat at marc by marc on bleeker, and i have been obsessing over another trench from juicy. i just can't get them out of my head, and it really isn't my fault...the spring racks are filled with wonderful spring jackets to choose from. i can't help but want them all!!! here are my favorites:
top: MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Braxton' Coat$428.00; Soia & Kyo All Weather Asymmetrical Trench Coat $195.00; Tracy Reese Tucked Twill Trench $560.00; Cynthia Steffe 'Darling' Trench Coat $550.00; all @ nordstrom
bottom: Juicy Couture Cotton Twill Trench Coat with Piping $350.00; Cynthia Steffe Sailcloth Trench Coat $395.00; Burberry London Knee Length Double-Breasted Trench $575.00; DKNY Belted Cotton Trench Coat$168.00; all @ nordstrom
with all the snow & rain my current wellies have seen, they are about ready to be sent 6 feet under. for spring i'm looking for version 2.0 to keep me dry:
middle: red bird super slim umbrella $38 @ cath kidston; Coach legacy stripe folding umbrella $88 @ coach; hannah umbrella $65 @ pareumbrella.com; multi vintage ticking super slim umbrella $38 @ cath kidston
if you see someone on the street with a fun umbrella on a positively dreary day doesn't it instantly cheer you up? it cheers me up! now, on a windy day i swear by my basic black umbrella from sharper image, but that does nothing for my outfit, and it doesn't exactly cheer me up (although it keeps me dry). so i have been on the hunt for a fun & stylish umbrella for those days where the weather is dreadful:
top: putty antique rose tiny umbrella $38 @ cath kidston; kate spade copenhagen classic umbrella $115 @ kate spade; Burberry Ultra Light Mini Umbrella$125.00 @ nordstrom; Leighton Ladies Stick Umbrella in circle print $16.95 @ luggagepoint.com;
bottom: MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Miss Marc' Umbrella$58.00 @ nordstrom; Juicy Couture Motif Umbrella$55.00 @ nordstrom; red star tiny umbrella $38 @ cath kidston;
the march/april issue of blueprint magazine (i finally tracked it down) has some spectacular tips on preparing your entryway for the spring weather. my boyfriend and i have been making over our entryway. we just purchased a bench, and have been searching for the perfect umbrella stand. i really liked the umbrella stands featured in blueprint, so once i choose a motif for the pitcher umbrella stand pictured below i think i will go with that one. umbra has a simple stand that would be perfect for showing off beautiful umbrellas!
pitcher $70 (with my narrowed down swatch choices) @ the macbeth collection; monsoon umbrella stand $132.00 USD @ umbra;
now, lets just hope spring hurries up & gets here! 1 Comment »
