a must stop shop

three turtle doves
201 East 2nd Street (between Avenues A and B)
New York, NY 10002
212-529-3288

this new york boutique is one of my favorites not only because of the great vintage finds, fun prints, and helpful staff, but because you never know what to expect. essentially what you will find there is a staff artist (that is how i would characterize it) that has in the past done all kinds of custom work on everyday belongings such as keys. now, like me you have probably been searching for the perfect cameo print all season so why not choose one of your own pretty little head. that's right the kind folks @ three turtle doves will snap a photo of your profile and transform it into a silhouette for a small fee of $35. From there you can have it shrunk and placed on a fabulous vintage necklace you can pick up right there. personal + one of a kind + gorgeous + trendy= perfect!

the silhouettes pictured are actually from

what to do this weekend: hello, throw a super bowl party!

i love super bowl parties for the commercials, the food, the beer, nipplegate, oh yea and the football--it is the ultimate "american" party. there will be no tom brady or brett favre this year and no janet jackson (or britney+aerosmith+nelly+nsync=best superbowl halftime ever, other than janet+justin), but the rolling stones are sure to be more entertaining than sir paul mccartney (sorry paul). regardless, i'm an american so i'm going to do my patriotic duty on sunday and sit on my couch and eat like i'm 500 lbs.

not quite sure where to start check out this article on ehow on what else but how to throw a superbowl party

decorations:

vinyl nfl tablecloth; inflatable football; nfl napkins; football lights

football shaped dish; football shaped cookie cutters; football candy dispenser; etch-a-cup in clear (also available in colors)

bombed beer bands @ shocking fun; mine beer bands @ plum party

another idea for drink identification is to print off custom labels...you can create them using the different teams; team colors; football trivia; or funny sayings...be creative!

one thing to remember if you use the football shaped cookie cutters: laces out! all items can be found at local party supply stores plum party and party games etc.
