acrylic on stretched canvas (4 separate square canvases)
illustration friday
the first thing that came to mind for this topic was a bird in a cage so in that sense i think this painting fits the topic well.
i love painting, but i have been on a hiatus of sorts. this is my first acrylic painting in over a year!!! i was nervous at first, so much so that i actually gave myself a headache and had to leave the painting all together. i don't know why...i can't explain it...i guess i was just nervous that i was going to be disappointed. in the end, i think the final product turned out to be better than my original vision. the great thing with painting is that once you get started you can add things change things and the paint allows you the freedom to do that...if you don't like a color, or an element you added, you can just turn it into something else, or simply paint over it! anyway, expect to see more acrylic paintings from me in the future.

What a wonderful feeling there is in this painting!
great piece! love that you did it on a gird of 4 canvases.
Beautiful painting, Melanie! You should definitely do this more often!
Absolutely beautiful as usual. I'm glad you were satisfied. I too have been there and for the longest time couldn't even put pen to paper for fear of failure. Then I reminded myself that the world has a whole lot of paper and if I don't succeed, grab another sheet and keep grabbing till I do succeed.

Wow, Melanie, this is awesome! I love the way it all fits together and you did a bang up job on that cage!
Congratulations! I've been through that and am trying to get back into painting also, so I can appreciate what you were faced with. What a great comeback, You did an awesome job!
