platinum blonde life: New York is Burnin'

New York is Burnin'

The Situation:
today it is 98 degrees in NYC...it feels like an oven. the sun is beating down with no breeze...the heat literally has no where to go.

Take It From Me:
on saturday, I was out east lounging on the beach. I came home with a sunburn on my left side...it isn't the worst sunburn in the world, but the location makes it absurd. the burn occured largely in part to my misapplication of sunscreen (if you look closely you can see a white hand print on my left shin!! oh the horror!). the burn was the least of my problems, because it was the heat exhaustion that REALLY hit me. i spent the following day lounging with sophie in the air conditioning, drinking loads of water, & combatting dizziness.

What To Do:
so, please take precautions if you are outside in this heat today! heat exhaustion is no fun! the heat is all the more reason to go SHOPPING today in air conditioned shops! :) obviously, drink lots of water treat yourself to a snowcone or stop into
Tasty D-Lite...you deserve it!

What To Wear:
wear those cute
white sun dresses showcased in the style pages of the nytimes this weekend, because i made the mistake of wearing manhattan black...even though it i went with black eyelet today it is still hot as hell!!

my boyfriend called my office earlier this afternoon with the report from lower manhattan (i'm a midtown girl) and yep, it's burnin' up down there too. he reported a heat wave fashion faux paux saying:

"i saw this girl wearing a sweater...A SWEATER!...it gave me a heat stroke just looking at her. i think it was cashmere, it was a nice sweater, but i almost died."
(and yes those were his own words...he is the ultimate metrosexual.) Obviously, it was the quote of the day! I nearly, died laughing!

80s Flashback:

this is little old me walking in the 4th of July parade promoting some pizzeria...handing out balloons & coupons in 100 degree heat.

shortly, after this photo was taken i was being packed in ice on my grandmother's sofa because i had a severe case of heat exhaustion...
despite this, it is actually one of my favorite childhood photos. the look on my face is priceless!

oh and by the way dressing up as a pizza is also not a good idea...any time of the year.

That picture is HILARIOUS!!!

This reminds me, though, of living in Texas and wearing my combat boots (okay, it was the 90s...) almost every day. That was insanity.

OOOO I HAD THE BEST PAIR OF COMBAT BOOTS...I REMEMBER SEEING THEM IN sEVENTEEN MAGAZINE (A MAGAZINE I WASN'T ALLOWED TO READ) AND i HAD TO HAVE THEM. I LOVED THEM. I WASN'T ALLOWED TO WEAR THEM EVERY DAY BUT I TOTALLY WOULD HAVE!
