cover of the new york post may 16, 2006
ok, i'm just going to say this and you can all send me hate mail. i feel bad for britney, here she is alone with cameras and possibly a helicopter(??) taking photos of her. i think they (the post, and various other tabs) gave her a raw deal in this case, because there are millions of parents and care-givers that make similar mistakes (no i'm not going to pull names, but i do know someone that "pulled a britney spears"). no one is a perfect parent. being alone in a car with an infant (well, any young child for that matter) while driving is tough, if something happens, the baby is crying whatever, you can't do anything. what i'm saying is it is tough enough being a parent, and having your every move criticized, not to mention photographed, has to only compound the issue!
on to the issue at hand:
first of all: is it against california law for a child under the age of one to be in a forward facing car seat? no.
should the car seat be facing the opposite direction: yes.
should the kid be properly strapped in? yes.
if the kid was properly strapped in would he be slumped over? hmmm doubtful, but possible.
is little sean wearing sunscreen?: let's hope so!
the bottom line, this "offense" is not nearly as egregious as her previous car seat debacle. hopefully, brit will learn the hard way-- always strap him in and a little tighter and the tabs will give the girl a break. also, britney, you have people that can drive for you! seriously, what are you doing driving alone w/ baby? if it was me, i would take a friend, assistant, husband, bodyguard with me, just to make sure there is an extra set of hands!

My friend brought up a good point...that she could not believe that Britney was driving with the top down on her car, when it seems most women in NYC try and shield their babies from all daylight.
I kind of feel bad for her as well. Whatever she does as a new parent, she is being watched and will be heavily examined by everyone. :)
i know! she should at least have a hat on the little guy. unless for instance it is turned sideways like his father (as she did in nyc--sigh)... but, that is a whole separate set of issues!
she is definitely not going to win the mother of the year award, but i definitely wouldn't want to have my parenting skills scrutinized by the entire world!
